Anorexia as lifestyle? (This week’s TS Podcast)

Tuesday, January 04, 2011 - Comments 0

Last week French model and actress Isabelle Caro died of anorexia at the age of 28. Just three years earlier she appeared in this Italian “No Anorexia” campaign, which featured her gaunt face and unclothed body:

Her agent called Caro’s death and illness “an absolute waste, but pro-anorexia websites had a different view, with one site posting her photo with the caption, “Die Young, Stay Pretty.”

Isabelle Caro had battled anorexia since the age of thirteen. What leads a person to battle for so long? And how much impact did the fashion industry have on her illness?

Travis Stewart, LPC, a therapist from Remuda Ranch (and co-founder of the True Campaign) joins us this week to share insights on how eating disorders can become a lifestyle, as well as what’s really going on underneath.
