Blogging for us today is our friend Michelle Watson, a professional counselor and instructor at an eating disorder graduate program in Oregon. Enjoy.

This past spring there was a segment on the Today Show that sought to debate the question, “If you had to choose, would you rather be 40 pounds overweight and smart OR skinny, but stupid?” What an intriguing and yet hard question to answer! If you were honest, would you admit to leaning toward being a little less smart if it meant you could hold on to your version of what skinny looks like? If I come clean, I admit to leaning that way more often than not actually. And if we continue being honest, wouldn’t we agree that our definition of skinny has slowly morphed into meaning more than just body size?

Okay, so I’m sitting in my over-heated apartment working away. I just acted upon what my senses sensed as a “good thing” and dove into a freshly-baked pan of banana bread I made this morning. Not to mislead you - I’m no Betty Crocker. I just read the directions and thankfully pulled it out before it caught on fire.

A Bazillion Things You Can Do

Dave and JJ Heller sent me an email this morning. I wasn’t expecting anything from them so it was a pleasant surprise. If you’ve not heard of JJ Heller you are missing out on some great music (you can check out their website at http://www.jjheller.com or download their music from iTunes). I first met Dave and JJ when they played for a chapel service here at Remuda Ranch. Immediately I fell in love with them and their music—it fits my style of creative folk/rock.

But that’s not what this blog is about.

In the email Dave had attached an unmastered cut of a new song they had recorded (co-written with Andrew Osenga from Caedmon’s Call). That in itself was cool enough—I figure I’ve got it made if recording artists are sending me their music before the public gets it—next thing you know the Jonas Brothers are going to be asking me to appear in their next movie on Disney Channel… But what was even better was that the song was written with the True Campaign in mind!
